BSNL Net loss declines to Rs 5,367 Crore Last Financial Year, Revenue Witness Slight Increase

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a government telecom company that has been facing difficulties for the last few years, has seen its net loss come down to Rs 5,367 crore in the last financial year. In the previous financial year, the company’s net loss was Rs 8,161 crore. The main reasons behind the reduction in its loss are reduction in expenses and increase in non-operating income.

A media Report According to the report, BSNL’s revenue from operations rose marginally to Rs 19,343.6 crore. However, this was less than the target of Rs 20,000 crore set by the central government. In the last financial year, the company’s revenue rose marginally to Rs 19,343.6 crore. Cellular Revenue from the services and enterprise segment has decreased. Its expenses fell by about 2.5 percent to Rs 26,683 crore. However, the company’s employee cost increased by 4.4 percent to Rs 8,034 crore. BSNL is facing tough competition from private telecom companies. It is launching its 4G service. Big private telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have started their 5G network across the country. Due to this, the number of subscribers of these companies is also increasing.

Recently, BSNL issued a tender of about Rs 65,000 crore for the third phase of BharatNet project. This is a part of a project worth about Rs 1.4 lakh crore. In this, internet connectivity will be provided to more than two lakh gram panchayats. The companies selected for this project will also have to operate the network in the gram panchayats for 10 years. BSNL has invited bids for 16 states and union territories. These include Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana, Kerala, West Bengal and Puducherry. According to the terms of this tender, the minimum net worth of the company must be Rs 50-375 crore depending on the state for which the bid is being given.

Last year, the central government gave BSNL a revival package of Rs 89,000 crore to start 4G and 5G services. BSNL has launched around 3,500 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) at various locations in the country. The company has set a target to launch 4G service across the country soon. <!–
